SSC CHSL Application Correction Fee

SSC has initially reported approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies for CHSL 2026.

The vacancy figure is not final. SSC will update post-wise and category-wise vacancies after receiving and checking vacancy details from the concerned Ministries, Departments and Organizations.

Eligibility

Educational Qualification

For most SSC CHSL posts, candidates must have passed 12th Standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

However, there is a specific educational requirement for certain DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts.

Selection Process

The SSC CHSL 2026 examination will be conducted in two tiers:

Tier-I – Computer Based Examination
Tier-II – Computer Based Examination
Skill Test / Typing Test, wherever applicable
Final selection and post allocation

Tier-I performance is used for shortlisting candidates for Tier-II. Final merit is prepared using performance in the relevant parts of Tier-II, subject to qualifying the mandatory sections and meeting the required conditions.

SSC CHSL Tier-I Exam Pattern

The examination is objective in nature. A 0.50-mark penalty is applied for every wrong answer.

General Awareness

The Tier-II General Awareness section follows the broad areas prescribed for the examination, including awareness of current events, society, India and neighbouring countries, history, culture, geography, economy, general policy and scientific developments.

Skill Test and Typing Test

This is where candidates often underestimate CHSL. Clearing the written exam alone is not enough for posts where a skill or typing test is mandatory.

DEO Skill Test

For certain DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts, candidates must achieve a data-entry speed of 15,000 key depressions per hour.

For other DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts, the required speed is 8,000 key depressions per hour.

The test is conducted for 15 minutes.

LDC / JSA Typing Test

Candidates can choose English or Hindi as their typing medium in the application form.

Qualifying Marks and Final Selection
